European Photonics Roadshow in Newcastle

08/04/19

General

Thanks to a new event of the European Photonics Roadshow Series, promoted by secpho along with 7 other European clusters, we were able to organize a mini-mission to Newcastle with 3 cluster members: Ricardo Díaz (ainia), Josep Maria Serres (eurecat), Andy Tomlinson (Phase Photonics) joined the secpho team during this event.

The aim of this event was to provide SMEs with solutions on how to overcome barriers to entering the MedTech and pharmaceutical markets with photonics-enabled products. At this two day event participants were able to hear from a panel of international experts, covering a range of healthcare market, innovation, investment and photonics topics.

Among the participants we counted with representatives from companies (especially SMEs), clinicians, researchers and academics, entrepreneurs and start-ups, as well as government entities, development and innovation agencies. The event served to seek advice on innovative solutions in the MedTech and pharmaceutical sector, to have access to clinicians who are active in innovation and market adoption, to network with a European-wide guest list of experts, SMEs working in photonics, end-users in healthcare markets and researchers to expand the knowledge and network of contacts. Pre-arranged B2B meetings took place as well, in order to stimulate and strengthen collaborations along the supply chain. The first day finished with a social event and networking dinner at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.

On the 16th and 17th of May the European Photonics Roadshows Series will stop in Barcelona and it will be dedicated to the application of new technologies to the food industry and agriculture. We look forward to seeing you in our next missions!
