FYLA LASER, a leading company in the field of supercontinuum and ultrafast fiber lasers is
seeking a PhD Laser Scientist to join our Research team in High Power Fiber Lasers.
Job Role

The role as a PhD Laser Scientist will include:
• Research and development of rare earth fiber laser oscillators, amplifiers, pulsepickers,
compressors and other optical fiber components and subsystems.
• Design of experimental approaches to enhance efficiency and simplicity of fiber lasers.
• Fiber laser design software development.
• Planification and management of electronics / photonics interface of serial and new
versions of FYLA lasers.
• Setting up of free-space and fiber optic demonstrators of FYLA lasers.
• Design and setting-up of specific fiber laser developments required by OEMs and
Scientific customers.
• R+D Projects Management

Qualification, Knowledge and Experience
· PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Telecom Engineering, Optical Engineering or
equivalent.
· More than 3 years of previous work in a fiber optics laboratory or in a high power
lasers laboratory.
· Experience in optical fiber manufacturing, designing, splicing and standard
characterization is a plus.
· Experience in ultrafast femtosecond/picosecond fiber lasers is a plus.
· Experience in ultrashort/ultraintense lasers is a plus.
· Knowledge of Labview, Mathlab, C++, Fortran, and other lab and simulation software is
a plus.
· Knowledge of standard numerical methods in fiber optic light propagation is a plus.
· Publications in the field of optical fibers, fiber lasers or high power lasers is a plus.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
