The 2nd intercluster workshop between SECPhO and Packaging Cluster took place on 7th of March, 2013. This second meeting was held at the premises of Bossar (manufacturer of machinery for food packaging) http://www.bossar.com.

The objectives of meeting were following:

-Firstly, to see the process of packaging machinery manufacturing at Bossar and learn firsthand the problems that exist and what can be resolved with optical and photonic technologies.

-On the other hand, to finish shaping the different working groups, whose themes range from packaging leak detection, gas detection or increasing the durability of fresh products inside the packaging.

-Finally, to define the next steps for the work groups with a goal of having the innovative solution proposals finalized by the 21st of May.

SECPhO members ASE Optics, CD6, CVC, Easy Laser, Hamamatsu Photonics, ICFO and IRIS were participating at the 2nd workshop.

The final goal of this initiative is to generate innovative initiatives that will become collaborative projects aimed at finding solutions for other sectors.

Also, SECPhO is currently working on organising new workshops with other sectors. Stay tuned!
