Industrially focused research project and PhD education to be carried out in collaboration between
a private company, 2Eyes Vision, and a public research institution, the Visual Optics and Biophotonics
Lab at the Institute of Optics of the CSIC, in Madrid.
2Eyes Vision (www.2eyesvision.com) is a spin-off company of the Spanish National Research Council
(CSIC) with the purpose of creating and developing technologies for visual diagnostics and
corrections.
The Visual Optics and Biophotonics Lab at the Institute of Optics (CSIC) is internationally recognized
in the fields of visual optics and ocular imaging. With an international team of over 20 members and
world‐class experimental facilities, it offers an excellent scientific environment in which to develop
a scientific career.
The project will focus on the development of a low-cost portable optical imaging system to retrieve
dimensional parameters of the eye which are essential to cataract surgery and ocular assessment.
Role
• The successful candidate will design and build a medical imaging device with
application in Ophthalmology.
• Research and engineering-oriented project.
• Publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences resulting in the
obtention of a PhD.
Requirements
• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optometry or related fields.
• Interest in applied science and medical devices. Strong motivation for interdisciplinary
research.
• Experience in programming and electronics design.
• Previous lab experience is desirable.
• High level of written and spoken English desirable.
Conditions
• 3 years contract.
• Gross salary: 19.250 €/year (plus an additional allowance of 600 €/year to cover for
phone and internet costs)
• Possibility of joining an expanding and interdisciplinary team with international
projection.
• Expected starting date: January 2020.
