IMPETUX is a spin-off from the University of Barcelona. We are a small, young and dynamic company. Incorporated in 2012, we focus on the design, manufacturing and commercialization of optical tweezers. Optical tweezers are scientific equipment based on laser technology that it is used in research laboratories of Cell Biology to determine the elastic properties of cells and biological tissues. We are based in Barcelona but we operate worldwide, with clients in the leading research centers abroad.

We seek:

• A Software Engineer for the development of the control software of a scientific instrument based on optical tweezers for cell biology and biomedical applications.

Description of the job:

The work to be carried out in the company will be in the area of development. In collaboration with our team of electronic engineers and physicists the candidate will develop the control software of IMPETUX’s optical tweezers technology.

Responsibilities:

• The candidate will be in charge of the control software development of IMPETUX’s optical tweezers technology.
• The candidate will integrate different pre-existing software based on Labview and Micro-Manager.
• She/he will be in charge of the quality control of the developed software, assuring an excellent programming praxis and organisation of the different generated software versions, codes, routines, libraries…
• The candidate will be in charge of the creation and utilisation of API (Application Programming Interface)

Conditions:

• Indefinite contract. Schedule of 40 working hours per week with high flexibility.
• Salary adapted to the candidate’s experience (minimum 30.000 € gross per year).
• Immediate incorporation into a dynamic work environment and a high-tech & scientific oriented project.
• The job place is in our offices in the center of Barcelona (near Hospital Clínic).

Requirements:

• A high level in programming languages ​​such as C ++, Java or Python and excellent programming praxis.
• Expertise in the development of software for the control of scientific instrumentation devices or industrial machines, preferentially in image analysis applications.
• The candidate must hold a PhD degree (Software Engineering, other Engineering areas, Physics or similar).
• Teamwork and organisation skills, motivation, empathy and sincerity.
• Good English level.
• Although not mandatory, experience with ImageJ, Micro-Manager, Labview and R language would also be highly valued.
• Experience in developing scientific software or real-time control system software would be a plus.
